In 2006 my mother passed away from a couple forms of cancer and left my siblings and I a house. In need of desperate repair with the help of our grandpa we began renovating the house. The house a ranch style 4 bedroom 30X30 was immediately brought down to 3 bedrooms to open up the main floor. Our first project was replacing exterior siding with rough cut 6X10' siding overlapped. We replaced one of the exterior doors, and re-located and replaced the second exterior door to better allow passive cooling. While replacing the exterior siding we went through and replaced all of the windows in the house. This had the added benefit of allowing in more natural light, but also the new windows were double paned and more energy efficient. Being able to handle those harsh Wisconsin winters.
Around 2008-2009 my brother and his wife then decided to stay in the house hoping to make a home for themselves and speed up the overall repair of the house, while living there they went through and replaced all of the electrical and a majority of the insulation and new drywalling. With a growing family and after a series of personal complications they ended up moving out and back to Kansas City to raise their soon to be 4 beautiful children. During the end of 2014 I pursued the endeavor of becoming full owner over the property and buying out my brother and sister. The house is currently being rented out, but is still in need of a vast ammount of upkeep and re-design.
I would love to be able to finish this project.
